Dogs Used to Sniff Out a Different Kind of ‘Bomb’.

Malaysian authorities and the Motion Pictures Association of America on Tuesday launched “Operation Double Trouble” and unveiled a pair of black labrador retrievers on the nation’s optical disc pirates. The dog named Lucky and Flo, are the world’s first dogs trained to find optical discs in packages and containers used by pirate syndicates for smuggling stolen movies around the world.

From the story: “The two black Labradors are on loan for a month from the Motion Picture Association of America, which says its members—including top Hollywood studios Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox and Universal—lost $1.2 billion to Asia-Pacific movie pirates in 2006.” I always knew Hollywood made some serious dogs, but this isn’t what I meant!
I can hear the bootleggers now… “Great! Now we have to pack our DVDs in coffee!!!”
I’ve said it before… and I’ll say it again…
Studios: Lower prices of DVDs, release the movies worldwide at the same time, and no one will bother duplicating the discs, and you’ll still make billions of dollars.
Woof.
