US Postal Service Announces Star Wars Stamps! Other Countries… Been There… Done That!

Today, at the Mann’s Chinese Theater, the US Postal Service announced the availability of Star Wars postage stamps on May 25th to celebrate the series 30th anniversary. Never before has the USPS featured Star Wars on their collectibles… err stamps!




BRAVO! Bravo. bravo… grumble… ONLY after ten years of other countries releasing postage stamps of Star Wars, here’s OUR chance.

So here we are… looking at the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars, and now Star Wars fans around the country can ‘invest’ in their ‘limited edition’ never-before-available Star Wars stamps! Yes, new art. Yes, 30th Anniversary collectible. and Yes, limited. But 10 years from now, are they going to re-release a full-color print of the art on the stamps? What about the posters of each stamp? When will they sell the miniature R2-D2 mailboxes so your action figures can send mail too?

…as for the rest of the world…


A long time ago… St. Vincent/Grenadines released Star Wars stamps commemorating the Star Wars trilogy:


Australia began to release Star Wars stamps in 2002 for the 25th anniversary of the series:

…and finally let’s not forget that wayyyy back in 1977, this was released:

WOW! It only took TWENTY years for ‘Star Wars Postage Stamps’ to be released to collect! Ha!
